Baking Around the World: Globe In Artisan Box Review: Bake

I’ve always been fascinated by other cultures since I’ve traveled a bunch and spent some brief times living in other countries. As an anthropologist, I also love to experience the arts, culture, foods, music, you name it about other countries and peoples. Globe In is one of the coolest subscription boxes I’ve seen since it sources from all over the globe, directly from the people who made the products. It’s “fair trade” at its finest. This month’s Turntable Kitchen Pairings Box would have been great for the dead of winter! Luckily for me, it’s been 60 and sunny and seems like an early Spring.

One of my favorite things about subscription service Turntable Kitchen is access to all of the music and mixtapes online since you’ve been a subscriber. I can access all the curated mixes and download zipfiles so I can enjoy this great music all the time. Matthew, the music editor of Turntable Kitchen does a fantastic job of finding music that pairs perfectly with an evening of fine dining, or just for putting you in a great mood. Continue reading

Is This Worth It? Dollar Shave Club Review

After seeing tons of viral marketing and hullabaloo about the Dollar Shave Club, I finally decided to try it for myself.

For “A Few Bucks a Month” (options are $3, $6 or $9 a month including shipping,) you get razor refills and sometimes a free sample shipped right to your door. Razors are hard to pick out and easy to forget to purchase, so this seemed like a good idea. The razor needs in our household are very minimal so we chose the $3/month option. Continue reading
