French toast is an amazing weekend breakfast food and French toast sticks are a fun way to enjoy this sweet favorite! I added some warmed blueberries and powdered sugar on top for the perfect berry treat!
Ingredients:
6 slices of bread
3 eggs
½ cup of milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
2 cups of blueberries
½ cup of white sugar
¼ cup of water
Maple syrup
Heat the blueberries in a small pot with ½ a cup of white sugar and ¼ of water. Stir them until warm, squishy and bubbly. Set aside.
Cut the bread into long strips.
In a medium, flat bowl or saucepan, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon and nutmeg and whisk thoroughly.
Heat a medium pan with some butter or olive oil and let it get warm.
Dip the bread strips in the mil/egg mixture and toast in the pan until golden brown on each side.
Drizzle with maple syrup, the blueberries and a dash of powdered sugar. Yum!
