Prague, Czech Republic will always hold a place in my heart after I lived there and studied abroad. While my time there had its ups and downs, I would never take back such an amazing experience to see the world and integrate its lessons into who I am today. Here are 10 reasons you should move Prague up on your bucket list and visit it as soon as you can.
10 Reasons to Visit Prague, Czech Republic
- Amazing Public Art
Prague is home to street artists who create fantastical displays that you can walk right up to. I saw many amazing art projects the whole community had pitched in on.
- Prague Castle
Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world! This castle is beautiful and amazing and breathtaking and bizarre all at once. The inside is a large courtyard that was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The walls of the castle are tall and amazingly carved. You can attend mass inside the castle if you want.
- Beer Gardens
What’s better than taking an afternoon stroll and ending up on top of a bluff overlooking the city? Oh, the fact that they sell beer there. The whole place is a beer garden and laws about open containers aren’t enforced.
- Amazingly Easy Transportation
Prague has some of the best transportation in the world and it is cheap and easy to ride. Trams, subway and buses are available at most hours and the city never sleeps.
- Cheap Excursions
It’s cheap to get around in Prague and it’s cheap to get out of Prague. Catching a bus or train out of the city isn’t hard to do and doesn’t cost much. Common excursions are to Budapest, Munich and Bratislava.
- Seasonal Festivals
Prague hosts festivals and events in the main section of town on an almost weekly basis. If you stop by on the weekend, you may even see one of the beautiful wedding they hold at the chapel.
- Street-Vended Hot Dogs
Prague’s street vendors serve lots of delicious food that’s easy to eat on the go. My favorite was hot dogs that came in a variety of flavors for nights on the town.
- Beautiful Hostels
Prague is home to a rare breed of hybrid hotels and hostels. The rooms you’ll stay in are fancier than any hostel in Europe and still have a cheap price tag.
- Ridiculous Graffiti
Although sadly, The Lennon Wall has now been painted over by a group of millennials who want to make their own mark on the city.
- The Dancing House
The Dancing House doesn’t really dance. It’s an amazing feat of architecture that is a sight to behold!
Visit Prague the next chance you get to experience the awesome-ness of a beautiful city.

It’s that amazing pastry with cinnamon, looking like a spring, they make them on the streets and sell them there. You can find them by following your nose 🙂 Should be illegal – too hard to stop eating 🙂
