‘The Cliffs’ on the Snake River, Washington

I’m so glad the summer’s here so I can visit all my favorite outdoor places! This week I got to enjoy some sun and fun at the Wawawai canyon cliffs, a unique outcropping of rocks on the Snake River that are perfecting for relaxing by the water in the afternoon. When the weather gets warm enough, college students and locals flock here to do some extreme cliff jumping! It’s a fun place that is very unique on the Palouse. Shiloh Saturday: Dog at the Dig Site

I love archaeology, but I didn’t know my beagle did also! When I visited Wawawai Canyon Park recently, we stumbled across some ancient ruins left by Paleo-Indians on the Snake River.

After going for a nice walk around the water, we found a trail that led into the forest that looked more like a jungle than a patch of trees. In this location, there were massive trees with enormous leaves and an archaeological ruin! Continue reading
