While cruising the Palouse hills from Walla Walla through small town Waitsburg this weekend, I saw a bizarre creature on the side of the road and needed to stop immediately to check it out. When we pulled over, we were lucky enough to get to meet a camel!
After taking stock of the situation and deciding whether the animal may have been dangerous, we decided to introduce ourselves! In the field was a carnival-style looking cart that said “Izzy the Camel” so we assumed he frequented festivals or parties. Check out his Facebook page here!
Izzy was friendly and definitely wanted to meet us too! He was majestic and not even too big.
I had no idea camels could live in Eastern Washington, but I guess Izzy must have felt right at home in the desert climate.
Looks like I made a new friend!
