Sometimes work or life becomes too busy to travel as often as you’d like to. Don’t have a next vacation planned? You can still explore the world without ever leaving your home. Here are 3 ways to travel the globe straight from your hometown.
3 Ways to Travel Without Leaving Home
- Read!
Exploring the world through travel essays is a good way to get in touch with the local culture or prepare for jetting off to a new place. Memoirs are also good places to read about the history of a country and get a glimpse into what it’s like to live there. Armchair traveling can suffice is your wanderlust is strong enough!
- Go on a Culinary Adventure
Have you always wondered what it’s like to eat crepes at a French bistro dans la belle rue? Re-create it! Go online and research traditional fares in whatever part of the world you’re longing to visit. Hold a night with friends or a romantic evening where you can pretend you are experiencing the new culture. Sometimes shaking up old routines can be just what you need!
- Reminisce about Past Vacations
It’s easy to take hundreds of photos on vacation and never look at them again; browsing your old photos is a great way to stir up old memories and remember your adventures. Chances are you’ve forgotten about that crazy cab driver who fell asleep or when you stumbled upon the perfect secluded beach; looking at the pictures can transport you right back to the moment.

We set up the tent in our backyard, have fires and grill out. We have a dog who would be a handful if we brought him camping with us so this is a way for us to get our camping fix and include him 🙂

That’s great! I love backyard camping; those are some of my favorite memories! I don’t have a yard right now so I had to set mine up in the living room and pretend!
