*Update: We’re following a Quaking Aspen tree!
We’re happy to announce that Aquaberry Bliss will now be following a tree! Have you heard of this movement? Following a tree is about experiencing nature at its finest in a small scale and taking time out of your day to enjoy it.
How to Follow A Tree
The point of following a tree is to pay special attention to its journey over the course of a year. This includes:
Noticing plants living on the tree, noticing how its branches grow
Noticing animals and nature that makes its home in your tree (birds, insects, lichen)
Watch the leaves change over the season, drop and grow and new buds
Which twigs fall and which grow strong
Does the tree produce seeds? Do the seeds germinate into new trees around it?
What does the bark look like, feel like?
What does the tree look like in the rain, how does it lean in the wind to protect itself?
Which plants grow around the tree? Does ivy vine and cover it?
I’ll be choosing my perfect tree to follow soon; I invite you to join me on the journey and choose your own tree!
To Follow Your Own Tree:
Determine which tree you’ll watch over the course of the year. Make sure it’s close to you or it will be hard to keep up with it and reach it in the wintertime.
Feel free to follow a tree you can’t identify! Maybe someone in your circles will be able to help you identify it. =]
Stay tuned for updates on the tree we’re following over the course of the next year. I encourage you to “adopt” your own tree and watch it change and grow! If you do, be sure to let me know and I’ll share your tree’s progress here! =]
