Deep in Winter: Turntable Kitchen Review: January Pairings Box

This month’s Turntable Kitchen Pairings box arrived just in time for the end of January! I am excited to plan a great night of music and seasonal food.

One of my favorite things about subscription service Turntable Kitchen is access to all of the music and mixtapes online since you’ve been a subscriber. I can access all the curated mixes and download zipfiles so I can enjoy this great music all the time. Matthew, the music editor of Turntable Kitchen does a fantastic job of finding music that pairs perfectly with an evening of fine dining, or just for putting you in a great mood.

This month’s tunes are no exception.

Turntable Kitchen: January Deep in Winter Box

The January Pairings Box theme is: The Deep in Winter Box

Here’s what came in my Pairings Box:

Hand-Pressed Record: Tei Shi, “Nevermind the End” and “M&Ms”

I’ve been hearing this track bounce around Turntable’s webpage mp3 player and I’m glad it’s this month’s record. It is a great song and will be awesome to cook to!

Turntable describes it as:

“entrancing, winter-warming grooves with impactful lyrics, smart arrangements, gritty percussion and silk vibes.”

My record is hand labeled.

Premium Ingredient: Dried Juniper Berries

Juniper berries add a pine-like scent to stews and roasts. They pair well with cabbage, lamb, beef and pork.

Recipes:

This month’s box theme is cabbage, which is great because cabbage is so abundant and seasonal in winter.

1. Iceberg Wedges with Buttermilk-Blue Dressing and Bacon

2. Cabbage, Bean and Chorizo Soup

3. Juniper Honey Ice Cream

My pairings box also includes a card with instructions on how to download this month’s digital mixtape.

I love receiving such awesome recipes and music each month. Try Turntable Kitchen’s Pairings Box for yourself!
