Do you have any favorite candies or treats you remember that always make you smile? In honor of Easter this weekend, we wanted to share a fun recipe for Bird’s Nest candies, one of my favorite Easter treats growing up. Though I don’t celebrate Easter anymore, they’re still fun and seasonal for early Spring.

Bird’s Nests

Ingredients:

14 ounces of Chow Mein noodles. This is roughly 1 store-bought bag, but I buy mine in bulk so I weighed it out

12 ounces of chocolate chips

12 ounces of butterscotch chips

Jellybeans or candy Easter eggs for decoration

Cupcake liners

In a small pot, heat the chocolate and butterscotch chips until melted. Blend them together. Be sure not to let the bottom scorch.

Add the chow mein noodles and mix well until they are fully coated with chocolate.

Scoop handfuls of the mixture and place into cupcake liners. This is the easiest way for them to keep their shape and reduce the mess.

Shape into nests and using a spoon, press a small indent in the center of each one.

Place the jellybeans to look like eggs.

Let sit until the chocolate hardens.

 

It really is that easy! No baking required and it’s a fun afternoon to make them. Enjoy!
