When life gives you lemons….Say thank you! This beautiful little Meyer Lemon tree was quite the surprise in the mail today! I timidly opened the package which had a huge stamp across the front announcing live plants.
But I hadn’t ordered any live plants. I had ordered plenty of seeds. I assumed it must be an unexpected present and it was! My lovely mother got me the perfect gift: a grafted Meyer Lemon tree!
Meyer Lemon
A Meyer Lemon is a special kind of lemon that is crossed with a Mandarin Orange to produce beautiful and lightly flavored lemons. When well-taken care of, this Meyer Lemon should produce fruit for me within a year! Since it’s a grafted tree, it will grow much quicker than a seedling.
Planting Meyer Lemon
This container the little lemon came in was way too small for the plant so I replanted it! I may let it grow huge and produce tons of lemons!
Or maybe I’ll bonsai it like this incredible little plant I saw in Tuscany.
About Meyer Lemon
The tree should be in direct sunlight and not too cold. It’s okay to grow outside, but not in the Pacific Northwest. Misting its leaves every 1-2 days will help it stay happy and tropical.
Stay tuned to watch the little guy’s growth! I anticipate some beautiful lemons in the future!

Meyer lemons are my favorite. I use them for almost anything from facials to topping on baked chicken. I’ve never grown one indoors. Wonder how it would do. Unfortunately I can’t grow them outside in my region. Lovely post! 😀

Thank you for reading! Meyer lemons are my favorite too. I worked at a chocolate company in Portland that made amazing Meyer Lemon truffles. It is growing really well indoors so far. It’s grown 14 new leaves! I can’t grow them outdoors either but I’ll be posting progress of the indoor growth. =]

These are the best lemons on earth!! In addition to regular uses: slice up a couple and layer in a glass jar with sliced ginger then pour honey over all and store in refrigerator. Use in hot water for a sore throat or to just enjoy on a cold morning!
